holiday gift guide for baby

Last year was Luna’s first Christmas and I’m not exaggerating when I tell you I searched and searched the Internet for ideas on what to give her. Babies can be particularly hard to shop for, so my hope is that today’s gift guide helps inspire you with some simple, open ended toy and gift ideas!

I know this time of year can be a bit overwhelming with gift guides and sales. My hope in creating these is simply to give you a more structured version of the recommendations I would give to my close friends and family.

Happy shopping! I have a round up of items below but you’re also welcome to check my Amazon Storefront, where most of these items are available.

  1. Mini Play Silks — I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, we love Sarah’s Silks! We have a collection of standard sized play silks so this year I’ll be adding some mini play silks for variety.

  2. Soft Doll — Luna got a Hazel Village doll for Christmas last year and I instantly fell in love. They’re made with no buttons or small parts that can pose a choking hazard, and they’re a truly stunning quality. Can’t wait to add to our collection for both the kids.

  3. Rolling Rattle — A simple but super loved toy. Our kids have loved this since they were babies.

  4. Chunky Knit Hat — Is the holiday season complete without some darling knitwear? I don’t think so. Etsy has some adorable options like this one.

  5. Art Cards — Black and white contrast images are really interesting for young babies. Our kids have loved these jungle themed ones, but they come in so many varieties.

  6. Stacking Cups — A classic toy in a modern color scheme. I’m a big fan of these.

  7. Books — We absolutely love Ezra Jack Keats’ The Snowy Day. I love that it comes in a board book style since babies (and toddlers) can be pretty rough on books.

  8. Balls — A simple but effective toy, I love that these help babies work on their grasping while also doubling as teethers.

  9. Booties — Hands down the best booties we received at our baby shower. My youngest lived in these booties until she grew out of them. They’re super cozy and literally never fall off, perfect for winter babies.

  10. Teething Ring — I found Pretty Please Teethers a few years ago and fell in love with everything they offer. Their teething rings are so lovely and the pacifier clips are amazing too!

  11. Bear Rattle — We lovingly call this “shaky bear” and have bought one for each of our kids. It's a rattle, a toy, and a teether and it’s made from the nicest wood.

  12. Musical Eggs — Each of these eggs has its own unique sound which makes it a fun and interesting toy for babies. Makes a great addition to a musical instrument collection too!
