Minimal, Neutral, and Calm Corner Nursery Nook In Our Room

I’m back with my third and final nursery nook reveal! It really is crazy to think that this is my last time pulling together a little corner nursery in my room but here we are!

I’m due in less than a week and I’m so excited to share this space with you. It’s similar to what we created for Luna’s nook since we’re in the same rental, but the whole vibe of the room is actually pretty different because we’ve added some new furniture to our room since moving in two years ago.

One thing that is definitely different is the mini crib. I’ve shared about this on Instagram, but we stupidly got rid of our OG mini crib mere months before I found out I was pregnant again. Our plan was to wait slightly longer (read: a least a year) before deciding whether we’d try for a third child, but life had other plans!

While the Babyletto crib we had was well-made, held up well, and looked great, I couldn’t justify the cost of replacing it. I considered going for the simple IKEA crib but it was always out of stock, so I did lots of research and was finally able to find a mini crib that we love.

I’m absolutely in love with this nursery nook we created for Zoey. It’s serene, personal, and cozy, and it flows so well with the rest of our bedroom space. Let’s take a tour!

NURSERY NOOK REVEAL

Like I mentioned, we got rid of our original mini crib that we used for Izzy and Luna two months before finding out we were expecting a third baby!

I scoured the internet and Facebook Marketplace for mini cribs and even bought a bassinet. In the end, the bassinet wouldn’t have worked long-term, so I ordered the Dream On Me 3-in-1 mini crib. I like that it has three height options, because while I loved the Babyletto crib, transferring a sleeping baby into that crib rarely went well because I had to bend over so far. I’m hoping this higher level comes in handy in those first few weeks.

I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the mini crib mattress (that thankfully didn’t get donated) fit perfectly in this mini crib. This mattress is so affordable compared to other mini crib mattresses and it’s held up incredibly well over the years.

I’m not a fan of the old, dark green carpet we have in our rental and I was thrilled to find this cotton rug with a light green accent to cover the space between our bed and the dresser. I then added the round rug under the crib to delineate the space a little bit and to add some soft texture to the area.

I get asked all the time (even got an email once!) about where we got the round rug and the dresser. Both are vintage things that have been handed down to us from Brandon’s family. The dresser was at one point painted white and Brandon took it on as a restoration project and it turned out so well!

I struggled to figure out what to hang over Zoey’s crib. I went through several ideas but none of them felt like the right thing. Thankfully, my dear friend Vanessa made this banner for the baby sprinkle she hosted for Zoey and me. As soon as I saw it, I knew that’s what would go above Zoey’s crib. I absolutely love that Zoey has something completely unique and made just for her — and the dried flowers are the perfect botanical touch I was looking for!

One thing I’ve learned from creating three nursery nooks over the years is I need a dedicated place to store the lounge and nursing pillows (that isn’t on the floor). I looked and looked for baskets and finally settled on this IKEA hamper. It’s $20 and it’ll make a great laundry hamper once Zoey outgrows the Boppy and SnuggleMe pillows!

changing area

We once again transformed our dresser into a diaper changing area. We still had our Bumbo changing pad but this time, I chose to cover it with an extra mini crib sheet to make it cozier. We also hung a mirror over the dresser to give that wall a bit more of a focal point.

On the lefthand side of the dresser, I have Zoey’s hair brush and comb in a wooden cup that I brought home from my study abroad in Costa Rica and a faux stem in a bud vase sitting on top of two vintage Victor Hugo volumes that one of my friends sent me from her trip to Paris years ago. I finished that little corner off with the sweetest bear rattle from Maileg.

On the other side of the changing pad is our trusty Hatch Rest+ which will be our sound machine and night light for middle-of-the-night diaper changes. The stacking bin holds bows and some tiny newborn diapers plus the cutest pacifier and pacifier holder ever. I hung a mug hook to hold our small collection of bonnets and I think it’s a perfect size!

Diapers and wipes are stored in the cabinet along with Zoey’s clothes and extra bedding. The plastic drawers aren’t the most aesthetic setup, but it’s incredibly functional and exactly what we need right now. I’m still not sure if this dresser will end up in the kids’ room eventually, so I’m happy to make it work with temporary storage fixes until it finds its final landing place in our home.

I still have some minor tweaks I’d like to do in this space. For one, I’d love to replace the curtain rod with a brass one, like this one that we have in the living room. I’d also like to swap out the curtains themselves. I love, love, love sheer curtains, but having black out curtains — maybe in a taupe or warm white color — would help the little ones settle more easily at bedtime. Oh, and the closet is its own project. But I’m not ready to tackle that yet!

Those details aside, I truly love this space. I find myself wanting to hang out on my bed just so I can be in my room. It’s been a slow process of finding the right pieces for this room, but I can’t wait to bring our last baby girl home to her corner nursery in our bedroom!
