6 month bumpdate + what i wore last month

six months pregnant / second trimester outfit / pregnant style

Six months, SIX MONTHS! Somehow this pregnancy has flown by and I’m on the verge of entering the third trimester! 2020 has been the most intense year to be alive, let alone pregnant. There’s good, hard work to be done, and I’m actually super thankful I get to do my part in this movement.

I’m also happy to report that baby girl is healthy and kicking a lot! Dressing the bump has been extra interesting this time around, since we’re still sheltering in place for the most part, even as our city opens up more and more.

WHAT I WORE

The heat is back and I’ve been holding back from buying maternity shorts, which means I’ve had to rely on the same five bottoms to help keep me cool as this baby bump grows! I went through my closet again and sifted through what fits well, what I could make work for a while, and what needed to go into storage for now. I made my non-maternity denim shorts work last month, but there is no way my high rise rigid denim shorts will work this month! Keep an eye out for my second trimester capsule wardrobe — it’ll more than likely be much smaller than the first trimester capsule.

As you can tell, I’ve been wearing my denim short overalls like, non-stop. I’ve been wearing my green elastic waistband linen blend shorts and a pair of denim maternity shorts a friend so kindly handed down to me a ton, I just never got a photo while wearing either! My tops and tees from Old Navy have been my go to’s this month, too. They tend to be on the longer side and I’m short, which makes them the perfect length to cover the bump without the weird ruching that nearly all maternity tees have!

SIX MONTH BUMPDATE

HOW FAR ALONG:  25 weeks

DUE DATE: September 25, 2020

SICKNESS: The nausea went away pretty quickly after I entered the second trimester (praise the Lord). I have had more headaches and tiny migraines this trimester but luckily nothing one dose of acetaminophen hasn’t been able to tackle. I’ve been sleeping better for the most part, but I’ve also experienced a lot of insomnia thanks to second winds right around bedtime. I have also had bad leg cramps, mostly in my right leg and mostly around bedtime, which hasn’t helped get my sleep on track. I’m not a girl who skips out on caffeine entirely while pregnant, but some days all I want is a second cup of coffee to get me through the wave of sleepiness at 3pm 😅😴

CRAVING: chicken tenders and fries like, constantly! I’m also on a strawberry milkshake/ice cream kick — I’m usually a chocolate milkshake or coffee ice cream kind of gal. I’ve also really craved fruit loops cereal, strawberries, and donuts, but at this point I could probably eat chicken tenders and fries for lunch and dinner almost daily.

AVERSIONS: cooking 😅 but really, I’ve felt like a total bum about my lack of cooking this whole pregnancy. My husband is a freaking saint for tackling the dinner prep! But aside from cooking, I’ve had a weird aversion to tacos, something that used to always make it into our weekly meal plan.  I’ve been more interested in nachos than tacos, but still no ground turkey.

PHYSICAL CHANGES: The belly is OUT! Like, out, out. My belly button is just about popping out. I’ve also had a lot of sciatic pain lately, mostly in my right leg. And don’t get me started on the insomnia! I’ve struggled to fall asleep before 1 AM most nights, which then has me taking hour long naps around 3 or 4 PM, which then doesn’t help with trying to go to sleep at 10:30 every night. I was having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions for about a month, but they’ve tapered off a lot. I’m crediting drinking way more water than I was and being more mindful about bending over constantly to helping alleviate them.

MENTAL HEALTH: I’d say my mental health has been really good, all things considered. I’ve had moments of sadness and mourning of what my hopes were for celebrating baby girl with our friends and family pre-pandemic. And despite California opening up a little, I still feel uneasy about throwing a baby sprinkle at this point. We’ll see what happens and if we decide to do something small or just with family, but for now, we have no plans. One thing that is keeping my spirits up is the fact that we’re moving! We’ve been praying hard with our community for over a year for a bigger place and we finally found one!

There we have it! A quick round up of what I wore last month plus an update on how this pregnancy is going. We’re moving in about a week an a half but I have a few blog posts in the works anyway! And if you want to see the process of us packing up our charming little city apartment, I’m sharing a lot over on my Instagram stories!

xo, Alex
